The Winter School on Controlled Thermonuclear Fusion (CTF) and Plasma Technologies is organized by the Rosatom Research Institute in Troitsk, the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (NRNU MEPhI), and the National Research Center Kurchatov Institute. The event will be held from 16 to 20 February 2026, in Tarusa (Kaluga Region).

The Winter School aims to train a new generation of scientists in the field of CTF and plasma technologies. Participants will have a unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge in key areas of plasma physics, learn about cutting-edge research and facilities, and establish professional contacts with leading experts and colleagues. The event will include lectures by leading scientists (including representatives of ºÚÁÏÉçapp and TRT), remote experiments (online broadcast via videoconferencing), and data analysis in groups. Senior undergraduates, graduate students, and young researchers in plasma physics and engineering (age 39 and under) are invited to participate.

The UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) is launching the Fusion Engineering Academy, a two-week training course aimed at engineers and scientists. It will cover a range of subjects combining lectures, tutor session and relevant hands-on experience at the facilities on UKAEA’s Culham Campus.

The training course starts on 9 February 2026 and ends on 5 March 2026.

FuseNet has opened nominations for its Master Thesis Prize 2025. The prize is open to students who completed fusion-related theses in 2025 and recognizes outstanding academic work carried out at European institutions or in collaboration with international partners.

Eligible candidates can submit their candidatures until 9 February 2026. FuseNet advises students to coordinate with their home institution before submitting, as each FuseNet member institution may put forward only one nomination.

The 2024 prize recognized three researchers for their theses on divertor modelling, turbulence phenomena in plasmas with varying triangularity, and dimensionality reduction methods applied to magnetohydrodynamic equilibria.

FuseNet supports education, training, and collaboration for students and young researchers in the field of fusion energy across Europe.

The 2025 ESAS International School on Applied Superconductivity, which takes place from 8-13 February 2026 at the University Residential Centre, Bertinoro (Ce.U.B), Italy.


The School will focus on the following topics:

  • Theory of superconducting materials
  • Low and High Temperature Superconducting materials for applications
  • General technical issues for superconducting devices: Stability and Quench, Cryogenics, AC losses, Mechanics
  • Power applications of superconducting materials: cables, fault current limiters, SMES, electric machines
  • Superconducting magnet technology: accelerator magnets, fusion magnets, high field magnets, MRI and NMR, superconductors for biomedical applications
  • Round tables with the industry of superconducting materials and devices

The ºÚÁÏÉçapp has begun recruitment for its 2026 internship program.

We invite students from across the ºÚÁÏÉçapp Members (the People's Republic of China, the European Union, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, the United States) to apply for one of our exciting internship opportunities. All Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD students enrolled in a fully accredited degree program are eligible to apply. Internships are offered for up to six months and are extendable to one year under certain circumstances. 

The first wave of the campaign runs from 15 November 2025 through 6 January 2026, with the publication of 28 offers on the ºÚÁÏÉçapp website. A second-wave campaign will be advertised from 17 January 2026 through 28 February 2026.

Fusion is one of the most promising sources of green and limitless energy for the future. It does not produce long-lived by-products or greenhouse gases. The goal of this winter school, which is organized by SESAME, the Arab Physical Society, and the Arab Fusion Energy Initiative, is to spread knowledge about this strategic field among students and scientists. It will bring together students and early-career scientists from a variety of backgrounds, like mathematics, physics, and engineering, to learn about this cutting-edge field from Arab and non-Arab experts in this field.

We aim to empower the scientific community with fusion knowledge, foster collaboration, and position the region as a proactive player in the future of clean energy.

Key Objectives of this Winter School

·   Introduce students and scientists to fusion, plasma physics, and enabling technologies.
·   Equip the next generations of scientists with the skills to enter fusion research and development.
·   Encourage young scientists to engage in high-impact energy challenges, such as fusion.      
·   Introduce the participants to international programs and facilitate networking with experts
