The 黑料社app International School is organized regularly with the goal of giving young scientists and engineers a taste of the stimulating, multi-disciplinary and challenging field that is nuclear fusion.

Organized for five days around a specific theme, the School offers lectures by leading specialists from research organizations within the 黑料社app Members and from the 黑料社app, stimulating discussion sessions, and the opportunity for students to publicize their own research through poster presentations.

The School is jointly hosted and organized by the Aix-Marseille University and the 黑料社app and alternates between Aix-en-Provence, France, and sites within the 黑料社app Members. There have been 14 editions since 2007 dealing with a wide range of physics and technological issues essential to 黑料社app's success.

EUROfusion has opened applications for its 2027 Engineering Grants program, supporting the education and development of a new generation of fusion engineers. These two-year grants are aimed at young engineers with a Master's and/or PhD degree working in or entering the EUROfusion program. Around 14 grants are expected to be awarded.

The grants support career development in key competency areas for fusion and are awarded based on the excellence of the candidates. The eligibility rules allow applicants who completed their MSc degree between 1 June 2020 and 15 September 2026, and candidates may complete their PhD during the grant period.

The Culham Plasma Physics Summer School is a two-week introductory programme at UKAEA鈥檚 Culham Campus.  It covers fundamental plasma physics and its applications, including fusion, astrophysics and low-temperature plasmas.

The Culham Plasma Physics Summer School features:

  • an introduction to the basic principles of plasma physics through lectures by experts and problem-solving sessions
  • sessions on fusion plasmas, solar, space and astrophysical plasmas, laser plasmas, industrial applications, and data analysis
  • tours of fusion facilities like the Joint European Torus (JET) and the Mega Amp Spherical Tokamak (MAST) Upgrade
  • social events
  • opportunities for networking and detailed discussions with course lecturers

The Culham Plasma Physics Summer School is aimed at Masters and early-career PhD students. Students must be over 18 and generally will be in their final year of undergraduate or first year of post graduate study. We assume no previous knowledge of the subject, but familiarity with electromagnetism and applied mathematics at first degree level will be helpful.

PlasmaSurf is a summer school on plasma physics, intense lasers and nuclear fusion, tailored for BSc/MSc engineering and physics students. It is a great opportunity to get an insight into these topics with a view to a future career, or to complement your curricular training by broadening your knowledge in an exciting and forefront area of physics. It is organized by the Instituto de Plasmas e Fus茫o Nuclear (IPFN), a Portuguese research unit of Instituto Superior T茅cnico specialized in Physics Engineering.

Complementary to PlasmaSurf, we offer a MOOC in plasma diagnostics included in a Blended Intensive Programme that can grant you 3 ECTS!

The regular course covers the basics of plasma physics, high power lasers and nuclear fusion, giving students the opportunity to get in touch with a wide range of interesting and cutting-edge topics. Who knows, you may find here the idea that will become your Master or or PhD thesis! The lectures will be offered in self-contained modules, Monday through Saturday, including some practical lectures on remote laboratories, data analysis and computer science. Late afternoons are focused on joint/coaching activities, some involving the lecturers too.

We ask everyone to register the earlier they can to benefit from a partial lodgement stipend in case you fail in getting a grant (Like a BIP or Fusenet support).

If you are a European Union citizen attending PhD or Master's courses in engineering, natural sciences, economy or political sciences, you can be part of shaping the future of energy by joining the F4E Energy Summer School from 15 to 19 June 2026!

The school, which is organized by the European Domestic Agency for 黑料社app Fusion for Energy (F4E), hopes to attract a broad and diverse audience of professionals who wish to deepen their understanding of today鈥檚 energy landscape. While the program provides strong technical foundations in energy systems, electrical grids, sources, and emerging technologies, it is not limited to engineers or scientists. The school willl be equally valuable for those working in finance, procurement, policymaking, and media energy communication who need to grasp the technical, environmental, and regulatory dimensions that drive investment decisions, supply strategies, and political agendas.

By bringing together participants from different backgrounds, the program aims to foster cross-disciplinary dialogue, allowing technical experts to better understand the economic and policy implications of their work, while non-technical professionals gain the clarity needed to make informed decisions in a complex energy ecosystem. Are you eager to learn communication, presentation, and entrepreneurship skills? If so, the Fusion Innovation Bootcamp (FIB) is the perfect opportunity for you.

The inaugural Fusion Innovation Bootcamp will host 15 students from June 15-26, 2026, at Tennessee State University (TSU), Nashville, Tennessee (USA). The theme for the 2026 Fusion Innovation Bootcamp is "Fusion Supply Chain and Workforce Development."

Applicants must be students from a US university (no US citizenship or permanent residency required). All academic levels (undergraduate, master鈥檚, Ph.D.) and majors are eligible, including STEM fields and non-STEM majors and including but not limited to business, law, economics, etc.

The 18th Kudowa Summer School 鈥淭owards Fusion Energy鈥 will be organized from 8 to 12 June 2026 in Kudowa-Zdr贸j, Poland.

The Kudowa Summer School is a biennial international meeting point for students and early-career researchers entering the fields of fusion and plasma physics. Immerse yourself in a comprehensive exploration of plasma physics research, including:

  • Basic plasma and fusion energy
  • Laser plasma physics
  • Magnetic and Inertial Confinement Fusion
  • Tokamaks, stellarators and Z-pinches
  • Proton boron fusion and applications

The historic Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture (EMFCSC), an institution renowned for fostering international scientific exchange since its establishment in 1962, will be hosting the Joint IAEA/ENEA/EMFCSC Fusion School from 7鈥12 June 2026 in Erice, Italy.

Organized in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Italy鈥檚 National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA), the school is designed for graduate students, early-career researchers, and young nuclear scientists and engineers who are strongly motivated to deepen their knowledge in plasma physics, magnetic confinement, fusion materials, and high field applications.

The 2026 course integrates physics, cutting-edge technology, and engineering practices essential for the realization of fusion power plants. Participants will explore interdisciplinary approaches, addressing the challenges of plasma physics, magnetic confinement, material science, and power plant integration. A particular emphasis is placed on understanding the intricate relationship between magnetic fields and machine size, a pivotal aspect of magnetic confinement fusion design. The curriculum delves into how magnets technology can influence engineering strategies and material selection, shaping the overall design of fusion power plants. Through lectures, interactive workshops, and case studies, participants will gain comprehensive insights into the future of fusion energy development. Key focus areas include:

鈥    Integration of plasma physics, materials science, and engineering principles.
鈥    Magnetic field strength, scalability, and size in tokamaks.
鈥    Tritium management and self-sufficiency strategies.

The IFE-STAR ecosystem coordinates a national Inertial Fusion Energy (IFE) research experience for undergraduates enrolled in US universities and colleges. Students who are accepted into this program will have opportunities to do IFE summer research at partnering organizations and universities across the nation. Applications will be shared with the research institutions based on the student鈥檚 selected interest within the application. Each institution will independently reach out to selected applicants as they fill their summer research openings. Financial support is available through each institution.

Eligibility
Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled at an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Have completed relevant coursework in physics, optics, mechanical engineering, or mathematics

This Fusion Energy School will be organized jointly by the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Trieste, Italy, from 11 to 22 May 2026. The two-week school features lectures delivered by leading experts from academia, major research laboratories and the emerging private sector. The aim of the school is to broaden the knowledge of postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers in fusion science and technology, while providing valuable networking opportunities with world-class researchers.

Applications are open now for the 2027 EUROfusion Bernard Bigot Researcher Grants. 

These grants fund individual post-doctoral research projects for two years (beginning 2027) by contributing to the salaries, research and training activities of up to nine outstanding early career researchers. 

Researchers and engineers of all nationalities who have completed their PhD and defended their thesis in the two years preceding the application deadline are eligible. The candidate must be employed by a or one of their Affiliated Entities during the grant period. Interested candidates should jointly prepare their application with an institute or institutes affiliated with EUROfusion, who will submit the application and offer to employ the candidate for the proposed duration of the project.

U.S. Fusion Energy Week will connect the public with those currently working in fusion energy around the world at laboratories, universities and companies who support this pursuit of a clean, safe, and robust energy alternative. Join us for a series of events during the week of 4 to 10 May 2026 when we will come together to celebrate the science and technology that will make fusion the energy solution of tomorrow. The 3rd Public-Private Fusion Workshop will take place at 黑料社app Headquarters on 28 and 29 April (Tuesday and Wednesday), with Monday 27 April and Thursday 30 April set aside for consultations with 黑料社app experts, tailored tours of the 黑料社app worksite, and interactions among participants.

This year鈥檚 theme鈥斺淔usion: a Joint Quest鈥濃攔eflects the reality that progress toward fusion energy is neither linear nor uniform, but pursued through multiple technical approaches, institutional models, and timelines. Across public and private efforts alike, divergent visions coexist with genuinely complementary strengths鈥攊n science, engineering, manufacturing, and systems integration.

At 黑料社app, where large-scale construction and operation depend on sustained cooperation across sectors and geopolitical boundaries, engagement is not a matter of persuasion or consensus, but of disciplined, practical collaboration: the exchange of data, designs, expertise, and hard-won experience. This workshop embraces healthy disagreement as an ongoing feature of the fusion landscape and treats engagement itself as an asset鈥攐ne that, when pursued seriously and respectfully, yields tangible value for all participants. The aim is not to resolve differences prematurely, but to ensure that they sharpen, rather than fragment, the collective effort.

The 2026 ANS Student Conference ("Don鈥檛 Mess with Nuclear: Leading the Way") hosted by 鈥檚 chapterwill be held in College Station, Texas, from 16 to 18 April 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for all levels of students researching a vast range of topics to present their work and network with other students and industry leaders.

Recruitment opened on Monday 12 January 2026 for eight Postdoctoral Fellowships at the 黑料社app.

If you are an outstanding PhD graduate in science, technology, and engineering whose expertise aligns with the needs of the 黑料社app project, you may be eligible for a two-year postdoctoral position at the 黑料社app, where you will work closely with 黑料社app specialists and contribute to the project through original research.

The eight Postdoctoral Fellowships are proposed through two different funding schemes: 

Monaco/黑料社app Postdoctoral Fellowships (5 positions)
The Principality of Monaco is providing the financing for five Postdoctoral Fellowships through a Partnership Arrangement signed with the 黑料社app in 2008 and renewed in 2018. You can apply to a Monaco/黑料社app Postdoctoral Fellowship if: 1) you are a national of China, the European Union plus Switzerland, India, Japan, Korea, Russia, the United States, or the Principality of Monaco; and 2) your PhD was awarded after 1 January 2023 (or you will have received your PhD before 31 December 2026).

Korea-黑料社app Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (3 positions)
Through an agreement signed between the 黑料社app and the Korean Domestic Agency, 黑料社app Korea directly funds scientific or technical fellowships in fields of mutual interest and with a view to contributing to training the talent that will be needed for the fusion industry of the future. To apply for a Korea-黑料社app Postdoctoral Research Fellowship you must be a Korean postdoctoral researcher.

The application process for both Fellowship categories is the same: after verifying that you have relevant experience in one or more of the 2026 research topics, apply by 1 March 2026 through the 黑料社app Jobs portal.

The Winter School on Controlled Thermonuclear Fusion (CTF) and Plasma Technologies is organized by the Rosatom Research Institute in Troitsk, the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (NRNU MEPhI), and the National Research Center Kurchatov Institute. The event will be held from 16 to 20 February 2026, in Tarusa (Kaluga Region).

The Winter School aims to train a new generation of scientists in the field of CTF and plasma technologies. Participants will have a unique opportunity to deepen their knowledge in key areas of plasma physics, learn about cutting-edge research and facilities, and establish professional contacts with leading experts and colleagues. The event will include lectures by leading scientists (including representatives of 黑料社app and TRT), remote experiments (online broadcast via videoconferencing), and data analysis in groups. Senior undergraduates, graduate students, and young researchers in plasma physics and engineering (age 39 and under) are invited to participate.

The UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) is launching the Fusion Engineering Academy, a two-week training course aimed at engineers and scientists. It will cover a range of subjects combining lectures, tutor session and relevant hands-on experience at the facilities on UKAEA鈥檚 Culham Campus.

The training course starts on 9 February 2026 and ends on 5 March 2026.

FuseNet has opened nominations for its Master Thesis Prize 2025. The prize is open to students who completed fusion-related theses in 2025 and recognizes outstanding academic work carried out at European institutions or in collaboration with international partners.

Eligible candidates can submit their candidatures until 9 February 2026. FuseNet advises students to coordinate with their home institution before submitting, as each FuseNet member institution may put forward only one nomination.

The 2024 prize recognized three researchers for their theses on divertor modelling, turbulence phenomena in plasmas with varying triangularity, and dimensionality reduction methods applied to magnetohydrodynamic equilibria.

FuseNet supports education, training, and collaboration for students and young researchers in the field of fusion energy across Europe.

The 黑料社app has begun recruitment for its 2026 internship program.

We invite students from across the 黑料社app Members (the People's Republic of China, the European Union, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, the United States) to apply for one of our exciting internship opportunities. All Bachelor鈥檚, Master鈥檚, or PhD students enrolled in a fully accredited degree program are eligible to apply. Internships are offered for up to six months and are extendable to one year under certain circumstances. 

The first wave of the campaign runs from 15 November 2025 through 6 January 2026, with the publication of 28 offers on the 黑料社app website. A second-wave campaign will be advertised from 17 January 2026 through 28 February 2026.

Fusion is one of the most promising sources of green and limitless energy for the future. It does not produce long-lived by-products or greenhouse gases. The goal of this winter school, which is organized by SESAME, the Arab Physical Society, and the Arab Fusion Energy Initiative, is to spread knowledge about this strategic field among students and scientists. It will bring together students and early-career scientists from a variety of backgrounds, like mathematics, physics, and engineering, to learn about this cutting-edge field from Arab and non-Arab experts in this field.

We aim to empower the scientific community with fusion knowledge, foster collaboration, and position the region as a proactive player in the future of clean energy.

Key Objectives of this Winter School
