Ikeda meets Chinese Ambassador to France
On 2 July 2009, ºÚÁÏÉçapp Director-General Kaname Ikeda met with His Excellency Mr. Kong Quan, Chinese Ambassador to France, at the Chinese Embassy in Paris. Director-General Ikeda briefed the Ambassador on the background and status of the development of the ºÚÁÏÉçapp Project, especially the main outcome of the recent Council meeting.
He explained how ºÚÁÏÉçapp was providing an important platform for all seven Members to jointly conduct international collaboration in fusion research in order to meet the world's demands for an alternative supply of energy in the future.
The Ambassador pointed out that ºÚÁÏÉçapp was one of the most international mega-science collaboration projects in which China had ever participated. The success and achievements of ºÚÁÏÉçapp would definitely offer a solution to the energy sustainability for all mankind. China would continue its support for the development of the ºÚÁÏÉçapp Project by fulfilling its due obligations.
Director-General Ikeda and Ambassador Kong further exchanged views on the project schedule, China's current participation and that of other Members, and on the status of Chinese staff working in the ºÚÁÏÉçapp. Lastly, Ambassador Kong happily accepted an invitation to visit the ºÚÁÏÉçapp site in Cadarache.
