By recognizing that electromagnetic forces—not coolant pressure—drive the ºÚÁÏÉçapp tokamak vessel design, the decision marks a significant step toward a regulatory framework tailored to tokamak fusion devices.
Second private fusion initiative joins ITPEA
2026-03-02 - ENN Science and Development Co. Ltd (China) is the second private sector initiative to join the International Tokamak Physics and Engineering Activity (ITPEA) after it completes all the steps of a formal process opened to private sector fusion firms in 2025. ENN will join ITPEA physics activities from April 2026.
Engineering Basis Handbook, first chapters released
2026-01-15 - Under the editorial lead of EUROfusion, the ºÚÁÏÉçapp Engineering Basis Handbook is designed as a stand-alone compilation of ºÚÁÏÉçapp design principles, the project's underlying technical design basis, and the technical, scientific, and regulatory rationale behind major design decisions. The first chapters of Volume 1 ("Genesis, Design and Evolution") are available on the ºÚÁÏÉçapp website: /scientists/iter-technical-reports/iter-engineering-basis-handbook.
